Delaware Park Launches Owner Entry Notification Program
Wilmington, Del., March 4, 2010 — Delaware Park announced today the launching of the Owner’s Virtual Stable® powered by Equibase Company LLC. The Owner’s Virtual Stable® is a system that includes email notifications to owners when their horses are entered to race.
Email notifications are automatically generated upon finalization of the track overnight. The email notification will be sent to all owners with valid email addresses on file with Delaware Park. The customized email alerts will also include a link to the Delaware Park overnight, an Equibase past performance chart for the race, and links to purchase additional information.
“This is a great enhancement for our horsemen and our racing office,” said Delaware Park Senior Vice President Michael Vild. “We are always looking for effective ways to improve the racing experience for owners at Delaware Park. We expect this program to be very well received. Equibase should be commended for this innovation.”
The 116-day live racing season is scheduled to start on May 1 and conclude on November 6. Live racing will be held on Saturdays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursday live racing will be added from July 15 through August 26.
Delaware Park’s premier races, the Delaware Oaks (Gr. II) and the Delaware Handicap (Gr. II), will be held on July 10 and July 17, respectively.

Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program Increases Purse Bonuses!
The Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA) sponsor of the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program (DCTP) will increase the program’s purse bonuses for owners and certifiers from 20 percent to 25 percent each, effective 2009. Owners and certifiers of Delaware Bred or Certified thoroughbreds are eligible for the bonuses if their horses finish first, second or third in any race, including stake races, at Delaware Park. The cap on open stake races also received an increase from $10,000 to $15,000 in the maximum amount paid to the owners and the certifier.
“By increasing Delaware Certified bonuses for owners and certifiers we hope to encourage more thoroughbred owners to participate in the program, which will increase entries in races at Delaware Park as well as the economic benefit to Delaware’s agriculture economy,” said Barbara Brown, DTHA board member and chair person of the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program committee. The increase will also help the program remain competitive with the increasing purse structure in Pennsylvania, she said.
The “Delaware Certified” program began in 2003 with 110 thoroughbreds. Today there are over 1600 thoroughbreds in the program, which has paid nearly $2.5 million in additional purse bonuses and contributed more than $15 million to the state’s farming economy.

The 2010 meet will run four DCTP stakes. The Small Wonder and The First State Dash are both two-year-old Delaware Bred or Certified restricted five and one half furlong stake races, each with a purse of $75,000. The Tax Free Shopping Distaff and The New Castle are both $75,000 stake races for Delaware Bred or Certified horses three and up. All four races have free nominations and will run on October 16, 2010.
A Delaware Bred or Certified Thoroughbred is a thoroughbred that is born or spends a minimum of 90 consecutive days on a Delaware farm or training facility prior to March 31st of its two-year-old year and races at Delaware Park. Completion of an application form and a certification fee is required. A total of 75 Delaware farms and training facilities are participating in the program.
