Brothers opening their second indoor golf venue in Richmond

by Joanne Miller

The Uhazie brothers are expanding their indoor golf business with the opening of a second location in Richmond, Virginia. The new venue will be located at 4501 E. Main St. in the Waterford at Rocketts Landing apartment development in the East End neighborhood. The brothers were approached by a broker with the opportunity, and they saw the potential in the area due to its growth and the recent closure of the nearby Glenwood Golf Course.

The new Indoor Golf RVA location will be larger than their original venue near Scott’s Addition, offering 2,200 square feet of space. It will feature two Trackman simulators, a putting green, and a kitchen. Like the first location, the Rocketts spot will operate on a membership-only model, providing members with 24/7 access to the simulators. Membership plans range from $125 to $325 a month.

Patrick Uhazie, one of the brothers, stated that memberships are the core of their business, and they aim to become Richmond’s premier urban golf club. They plan to open the new location in November or December, which aligns with the peak season for indoor golf.

While Patrick currently serves as the company’s only full-time employee, they may consider bringing on a third partner in the future. The brothers are also open to the possibility of franchising and supporting others in opening their own Indoor Golf locations.

The Uhazie brothers are not the only ones capitalizing on the popularity of indoor golf in the region. Richmond is home to several other indoor golf concepts, including Tee It Up, X-Golf, and The Edge Golf Academy. Additionally, there are partially enclosed driving ranges like TopGolf and Drive Shack.

Despite the competition, Patrick remains confident in the demand for indoor golf in the area. He believes there is plenty of room for multiple competitors and sees the success of their Scott’s Addition location as proof.

As for future expansion, the brothers are open to the idea of a third Indoor Golf venue. They have already received interest from friends and family who are interested in franchising the concept. However, their focus for now is on the successful opening of the Rocketts Landing location.

Indoor golf continues to grow in popularity, offering golf enthusiasts a convenient and weather-independent way to play and practice. With the addition of the new Indoor Golf RVA location, golfers in Richmond will have another option to enjoy their favorite sport year-round.
