Deal Digest: Beasley Media’s Map Shrinks With Exit From Delaware Market. | Story

Station Sales: Tri State Media, owned by Brooke Williams, has filed a $300,000 deal to acquire talk station “Z-92” KMZE and country station “K-101.1” KWOX in Woodward, Oklahoma. This marks Tri State Media’s first entry into the radio station ownership market. In Indiana, Jacob Wilkins and Tyger Elto’s WE Broadcasting has filed a $150,000 deal to purchase country station “Froggy 95.9” WKID in Vevay, IN, from Adam Griffin’s Dial Broadcasting. Wilkins already owns religious station “The Word AM 1540” WNWR in the Philadelphia market. The broker for this sale is Beth Griffin.

In St. Louis, George Lorton’s First Cut Media has filed a $100,000 deal to acquire country station WJBM (1480) from GBI Communications. The sale also includes the Jerseyville, IL-licensed translator W284DN at 104.7 FM. WesTex Telco has filed a $55,000 deal in Abilene, TX, to buy gospel station “Y-100” KCKB in Moran, TX, from Positive Radio Network. WesTex Telco already owns three other stations in the Abilene market.

Moving to New Mexico, Don Davis’ Vanguard Media has filed a $50,000 deal to purchase country station KCHS in Truth or Consequences, NM (1400) from Francis Luna’s GPK Media. Vanguard Media already has stations in the Albuquerque market.

Closings: VCY America has closed a $5 million deal to buy hot AC station “Mix 99.5” WJBR in Wilmington, DE, from Beasley Media Group. With this deal, Beasley exits market No. 85 and VCY America gains a 50,000-watt Class B signal covering the Wilmington metro and parts of the Philadelphia market. In Wisconsin, Armada Media Partners, owned by Terry Shockley and Chris Bernier, has closed a $4,951,000 deal to acquire country station WJMC-FM (96.1), AC station “Star 97.7” WAQE-FM, classic hits station “The Fox 99.1” WKFX, news-talk station WJMC (1240), and sports talk station “Sports Talk 1090” WAQE in Rice Lake, WI. The deal also includes two translators: W243ED at 96.5 FM and W299CQ at 107.7 FM. Armada Media Partners paid $2.15 million in cash at closing, with the remaining amount in two promissory notes.

In Ohio, South of Columbus, Jackson County Broadcasting, owned by Alan Stockmeister, has closed a $750,000 deal to acquire country station “Cash FM 100.9” WXIZ in Waverly, OH, CHR station WZXQ in Piketon, OH (100.1), and gospel station WXIC in Waverly, OH (660) from Gerald Davis’ Crystal Communications. The deal also includes the Waverly, OH-licensed W240DZ at 95.9 FM. In Miami, Radio Activa Media Group, owned by James Ospina, has closed a $450,000 deal to purchase oldies station WWNN (1470) from Vic Canales Media Group. Ospina previously owned a car dealership in West Palm Beach.

Moving to Long Island, NY, The WNET Group, a public broadcaster, has closed a $100,000 deal to acquire station WEER in Montauk, NY (88.7) from Eastern Tower Corp. The group already owns news-talk station WLIW-FM in Southampton, NY (88.3) and the Manorville, NY-licensed translator W245BA at 96.9 FM. In Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol, TN, Bouldin Radio has closed a $60,000 deal to purchase country station WXLZ-FM (107.3) and currently-silent station WXLZ (1140) from Yeary Broadcasting. Roger Bouldin already owns three stations in the area.

In the Hudson Valley, NY, Hudson-Westchester Radio has donated the currently-silent station WVOX (1460) to MMTC Broadcasting. The donation also includes the White Plains, NY-licensed translator W252DX at 98.3 FM. MMTC Broadcasting will sell the station to Chang Media Group in a $20,000 deal. The group already owns stations in California and Arizona. Additionally, Hudson-Westchester Radio has a pending $8.15 million deal to sell ethnic station WVIP (93.5) to Hope Media Group.
