Delaware Botanic Gardens annual dinner raises more than $120,000

by Danica Brendon

The 11th annual Party in the Garden dinner at Delaware Botanic Gardens (DBG) was a tremendous success, with over $120,000 raised by the event’s dedicated supporters. Despite the rain, approximately 300 attendees gathered at the beautiful gardens on September 28th, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the DBG.

Guests at the event took in the breathtaking surroundings, with some even braving the rain and exploring the grounds. However, most found shelter under a large white sailcloth tent, where they enjoyed the delightful music of Vince Varrassi and 5th Avenue. To cater to their culinary needs, SoDel Concepts provided a variety of delicious dishes and desserts at multiple chef stations. The president of SoDel Concepts, Scott Kammerer, and his wife Lisa served as the honorary co-chairs of the dinner, adding an extra touch of prestige to the event.

This year, DBG President Ray Sander and Executive Director Sheryl Swed called upon the generous guests to support the operational needs of the gardens. Responding to the challenge, guests donated close to $26,000 by the end of the evening. This brought the total funds raised at the dinner to an impressive tally of over $122,000.
