YPSILANTI — Avery Manning of Dexter High School has been making waves as one of the top golfers in the Southeastern Conference Red this season, and she proved her skills once again on Wednesday. Manning shot an impressive 3-under 69 to claim the individual league title and help her team, the Dreadnaughts, secure a second-place finish at the SEC-Red Championship held at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti.

Manning’s remarkable performance on the course included a total of six birdies throughout the day. She started strong on the front nine, sinking four birdies and gaining an advantage over her competitors. Manning continued her impressive streak on the back nine, adding two more birdies to secure her position at the top.

While Dexter and Ann Arbor Skyline tied with a score of 352 after their top four players, it was Skyline’s fifth golfer, Ali OBrien, who ultimately broke the tie with a score of 95. This decisive stroke helped Skyline secure the team championship as they had three players finish in the top 10.

Reva Patchava led Skyline with a third-place finish, shooting an 83. Her teammates Vedha Kakarla (88), Suriya Ailawadi (89), and Anjali Kakarla (92) also contributed significantly to Skyline’s success.

In addition to Manning’s impressive performance, Dexter saw another standout player in Millie Truesdell, who tied for ninth place, and Marissa Genske, who secured an 11th place finish with a score of 90.

Ann Arbor Huron finished in third place with a team score of 359, closely followed by Saline in fourth place with a score of 371. Junior Emmi Conrad led the way for Huron, finishing fourth individually with a score of 87. Jennifer Tang and Tia Tarnal, also from Huron, tied for fifth place with a score of 88. Grace Celso paced Saline with an excellent performance, shooting 79 and securing second place individually. Alex Ellender from Ann Arbor Pioneer also tied for fifth place.

Meanwhile, Chelsea competed in the SEC-White Championship and finished in fourth place with a total score of 429. Avery Olaveson led the team with an impressive 11th-place finish.

The SEC-White title went to Pinckney, who posted a team score of 365. Alivia Ligrow from Pinckney stood out, shooting a 4-over 76 to claim the first place individually. Cassidy Hawken from Adrian finished second with a score of 85, and Brooke Kosco from Tecumseh secured third place with a score of 92.
