by Danica Brendon

Incyte Chairman and CEO, Hervé Hoppenot, will be the keynote speaker at the 187th Annual Dinner of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce on January 29. The event, which is the largest of the State Chamber’s annual gatherings, will bring together over 1,100 business leaders, dignitaries, and elected officials at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.

Hoppenot joined Incyte in 2014 as CEO and was later appointed Chairman of the Board in 2015. Under his leadership, Incyte has experienced significant growth, with the company’s revenue increasing from $511 million in 2014 to $3.4 billion in 2022. Additionally, Incyte has tripled the number of clinical candidates in its portfolio, expanding beyond cancer treatments to include research and development in inflammation and autoimmunity.

Established in 2002, Incyte is a biopharmaceutical company with its roots in California and Delaware. Over the years, it has become a global organization with more than 2,400 employees and a portfolio of treatments in oncology, inflammation, and autoimmunity.

Incyte’s flagship drug, Jakafi, is used in the treatment of blood cancer. The company is also working on developing a cream for treating certain skin conditions, further expanding its drug pipeline.

With its global headquarters near Wilmington, Incyte has expanded its operations to North America, Europe, and Asia. Hoppenot expressed his gratitude in being given the opportunity to address Delaware’s vibrant and diverse business community at the Annual Dinner. He looks forward to sharing the Incyte story and highlighting how their innovative science is making a global impact on the practice of medicine.

The Annual Dinner not only provides a platform for influential speakers like Hoppenot, but it also includes the presentation of the Josiah Marvel Cup award. This award is presented in memory of Josiah Marvel, who played a pivotal role in reorganizing and becoming the first president of the modern-day State Chamber. The recipient of the Marvel Cup is kept secret until the night of the dinner, adding an air of anticipation to the event.

Registration for the 187th Annual Dinner can be done online through the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s website. This event serves as a significant gathering for the business community and offers attendees the chance to engage with industry leaders, network with other professionals, and gain insights into the latest trends and developments in the business world.
