PGA Tour pro Patrick Cantlay had a fairytale ending to his Ryder Cup experience in Rome, even though his team suffered a loss to the Europeans. Cantlay tied the knot with his fiancée Nikki Guidish in a lavish ceremony at The St. Regis Rome, just a short drive from where the Ryder Cup took place.
Guidish, who is a pharmacist, shared photos of the beautiful wedding on her Instagram, expressing that it was a dream come true. The St. Regis Rome is an award-winning luxury hotel known for its historic Italian paintings and architecture, providing an elegant backdrop for the couple’s special day.
Guidish looked stunning in a white strapless gown with an open back and princess skirt, while Cantlay, who recently made headlines for his “HatGate” controversy during the Ryder Cup, wore a black suit with a matching bowtie.
The couple danced together in front of a live band on a mirrored dance floor adorned with white flowers and candles. In another photo, Guidish was seen laughing with their wedding planner, Roberta Torresan.
Cantlay and Guidish got engaged in September 2022 in Napa, California, with a stunning diamond ring. Details about their relationship timeline are unclear, as the couple prefers to keep their romance private. They were first spotted together at the Memorial Tournament in June 2021, where Cantlay emerged victorious.
The wedding took place a day after Team USA’s seventh consecutive loss on foreign soil in the 2023 Ryder Cup. The European team, led by Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, secured the victory, providing a dramatic end to the highly anticipated event.
During the Ryder Cup, Cantlay found himself at the center of controversy with the infamous “HatGate” incident. A report claimed that Cantlay’s refusal to wear the team’s customary cap caused a rift among Team USA, as he believed players should be paid to participate in the Ryder Cup. However, his fellow teammates, including Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas, showed solidarity by playing their matches without wearing a hat on the final day.
Despite the disappointment at the Ryder Cup, Cantlay and Guidish celebrated their love in Rome, creating a memorable and beautiful wedding ceremony. The PGA Tour now resumes its fall schedule with the upcoming Sanderson Farms Championship.
