Despite facing challenges at the start of the race, Ringy Dingy and Katie Davis maintained their composure and executed a flawless strategy. The filly dropped far off the early pace but steadily moved into contention on the turn. Finding an opening on the inside in the upper stretch, Ringy Dingy surged ahead and sealed her victory.

Reflecting on the race, Katie Davis expressed their unexpected victory, saying, “It was not our game plan. It kind of fell out of the clouds because of the break when she got squeezed out of there. But we did not panic. I just let her get under feet. When we hit the backside, they drew away from us a little bit. I gathered her, dropped my hands at the half-mile pole, and got my position. The rail opening made it a perfect trip and from there, we were home.”

The following day, the spotlight shifted to Copper Tax, a promising two-year-old colt trained by Gary Capuano. Copper Tax, a son of Copper Tax, continued his winning streak with a dominant performance in the Rocky Run stakes. With jockey Mychel Sanchez guiding him, Copper Tax led throughout the race and won by an impressive margin of 6 ¾ lengths. The victory marked his fourth consecutive win, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the racing world.

Copper Tax’s ability to maintain his lead and control the pace of the race showcased his talent and potential. With fractions of 47.81 for the half a mile and 1:13.11 for the three-quarters of a mile, Copper Tax maintained his momentum and finished the one-mile race in 1:38.35 over a muddy sealed track.

Gary Capuano, Copper Tax’s trainer, expressed his satisfaction with the colt’s performance, stating, “He passed the test with flying colors and he finished pretty nice and quick. He is a pretty special horse. We are going to give him a little bit of a breather for now, but we will see how he comes out of this race and what comes up. But we are going to just enjoy this one for a little bit. He will run on anything and anytime we ask. He came into this race really good. We gave him a couple of nice, long, steady workouts around two turns, and it did not seem to bother him. He is a pretty cool horse.”

With his victory in the Rocky Run stakes, Copper Tax’s career earnings surged to $190,000. The colt’s consistent performances and ability to excel in different conditions further solidify his potential for future success.
