CNN Reports on the Opening of Luxury Golf Course and Private Club in South Florida
In an article published by CNN, the opening of the Shell Bay Club in Hallandale Beach, South Florida, was announced. The Shell Bay Club is a private leisure and residential development designed by the Witkoff Group and PPG Development. The club is positioned as a haven for “connoisseurs of life well lived.”
The highlight of the 150-acre property is an 18-hole private golf course designed by renowned Australian golfer Greg Norman. The course spans 7,254 yards and offers a unique and pure golf experience. With immaculately conditioned fairways, sandbelt-style bunkers, and contoured greens, the course provides a challenging test for players. The club also boasts a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse, a 12-acre practice facility, and a nine-hole par three course.
Greg Norman expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “The course at Shell Bay will be one of the most unique, pure golf experiences I have ever designed. Completely isolated from its surroundings, the walkable layout will capture the true essence of the game.”
Membership initiation fees for the Shell Bay Club come at a hefty price of $1 million. However, tenants living in the 108 residences and penthouses overlooking the course receive automatic social club membership, with the option to pay an additional fee for golf course access. The minimum cost of a unit in the 20-story condominium tower is $3 million, with penthouses starting from $11 million.
The article draws a comparison to Augusta National Golf Club, the prestigious host of The Masters in Georgia. Initiation fees at Augusta range from $250,000 to $500,000, highlighting the exclusivity and premium nature of the Shell Bay Club.
According to Alex Witkoff, Co-CEO of the Witkoff Group, “Golf is the most undersupplied asset in the Miami market, and consequently, Shell Bay is a generational opportunity to create the first new private course in the area in 25 years.”
Apart from the golf course, Shell Bay Club members have access to various amenities, including the Shell Bay Yacht Club, which offers a private marina with 48 slips for residents with private vessels and charters. The club also features a racquet club with multiple court surfaces, a member’s pavilion with spas and social rooms, and a pro shop. The residences themselves come with luxurious features such as butler service and floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views.
In 2025, a boutique resort operated by the managing hospitality group Auberge Resorts Collection is set to open within the Shell Bay Club, providing an additional option for guests visiting the property.
With its world-class golf course, luxury amenities, and stunning residences, the Shell Bay Club aims to offer a truly exclusive and indulgent lifestyle for its members. While the membership fees may be steep, the allure of a prestigious golfing experience and access to a range of leisure facilities make it an attractive choice for those who can afford it.
