In an exciting start to the Solheim Cup, Swedish players Linn Grant and Maja Stark will lead Team Europe in the opening match of the Friday foursomes. The duo, who have been successful together at the junior and amateur level, will tee off at 8:10am local time as Europe looks to secure its third consecutive victory.
Their opponents will be Megan Khang and American veteran Lexi Thompson, who will hit the opening tee shot of the competition. Thompson is the only member of the last American team to win on European soil in 2015, making her a formidable opponent.
Team Europe captain Suzann Pettersen has decided to stick with successful pairings from the opening foursomes session in 2021. Celine Boutier will partner with Georgia Hall, who remain unbeaten together in four matches across the past two Solheim Cups. Charley Hull will team up with Emily Kristine Pedersen to take on Ally Ewing and Cheyenne Knight.
Leona Maguire, who had a stellar debut in 2021 with 4.5 points, will play alongside playing vice-captain Anna Nordqvist. They will face Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz, with Korda being a former world No. 1 and Corpuz the reigning US Women’s Open champion.
The Friday foursomes line-up is as follows:
– Maja Stark and Linn Grant (Swe) vs Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang
– Celine Boutier (Fra) and Georgia Hall (Eng) vs Danielle Kang and Andrea Lee
– Leona Maguire (Irl) and Anna Nordqvist (Swe) vs Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz
– Charley Hull (Eng) and Emily Pedersen (Den) vs Ally Ewing and Cheyenne Knight
The action continues with fourballs starting at 1:40pm local time on both days, followed by the Sunday singles. The match between Team Europe and Team USA promises to be a thrilling competition, and you can catch all the action exclusively live on Sky Sports.
