Topgolf, the popular entertainment company known for its mega driving range facilities, has shown interest in building a location in the Columbia area of South Carolina. According to reports from the Planning Commission, Topgolf has entered the development process for a property in Lexington County along Interstate 26.
Although Topgolf has not shared any specific information about a potential venue in the area, this is not the first time the company has engaged in development talks with Lexington County. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Topgolf had been exploring the possibility of developing the property but those efforts did not progress.
The property under consideration by Topgolf is a 13-acre parcel near the Piney Grove Road interchange. The owners of the property, Realty Link based in Greenville, did not respond to requests for comments.
While it is uncertain whether a deal for a new Topgolf venue will come to fruition in Columbia, if it does, it would be the company’s fourth location in South Carolina. Currently, Topgolf has multi-story driving range towers in Myrtle Beach, Greenville, and North Charleston.
Topgolf has gained popularity across the country for its unique approach to golf entertainment. The facilities offer a range of activities and games that combine golf with elements of a sports bar and entertainment center, attracting people of all skill levels and ages. With its driving range setup, players hit microchipped golf balls at various targets on the range, earning points based on their accuracy. The venues also feature food and beverage options, live music, and televisions for a complete entertainment experience.
The potential addition of a Topgolf venue in the Columbia area could provide residents and visitors with a new and exciting option for leisure and entertainment. As Topgolf continues to expand its presence across the country, it is becoming increasingly popular among golf enthusiasts and those looking for a fun social experience.
