The city of Parma, Ohio, is set to undergo a major transformation with the construction of the new Ridgewood Golf Course Clubhouse and Community Event Center. News 5 has been following the progress of this project since the summer of 2022 and now provides an update on the latest developments.
The previous clubhouse, which was nearly 100 years old and in a dilapidated state, has been demolished to make way for the new facility. The city has partnered with architectural firm American Structurepoint to design and construct the multi-million dollar project. Official renderings have been released, showcasing a modern and spacious 11,400-square-foot structure.
The new clubhouse will offer upgraded amenities and opportunities for year-round use, making it a community anchor. Inside, there will be a large open concept area, six golf simulators, a warming kitchen, and a 170-seat event space. Outside, there will be a lounge-covered patio with outdoor seating, providing a perfect spot for visitors to enjoy the view of the golf course.
The construction process is expected to begin soon, with a groundbreaking planned for spring 2024. The tentative soft opening is set for May 2025, followed by a grand opening celebration in July of the same year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the course.
City officials believe that this project will be transformational, bringing in more revenue and attracting a diverse range of visitors. They emphasize that the facility will not only benefit golfers but also non-golfers who may wish to host parties or weddings at the event center. The goal is to make the Ridgewood Golf Course and the new clubhouse a critical community centerpiece.
Funding for the project has been secured through various sources, including $4 million in ARPA funds. The city is also working with the state to secure additional funding as needed. Bonds may be issued in the future to cover expenses.
The construction process is expected to take approximately one year, and during this time, the golf course and a temporary outfitted clubhouse trailer will remain open. The new layout of the course will optimize the view of the 18th hole, allowing visitors to enjoy the final round of play from a closer angle.
News 5 is committed to following through on stories that matter to the community. The progress of the Ridgewood Golf Course Clubhouse and Community Event Center will continue to be covered, providing residents with firsthand updates on the transformation of their city.
